Middlestone Moor shade Stanhope

Middlestone Moor collected their second trophy of the season in beating Stanhope SSC 2-1 in the final of the Weardale Cup at West Auckland.
An even first half looked odds on to end goalless but Middlestone Moor broke the deadlock in the 43rd minute. The Stanhope defence failed to clear a loose ball and Scott Maughan pounced to slip the ball into an empty net.
Stanhope equalised on 50 minutes through Aydan Bowers who was first to the ball after Jack Barker's effort was blocked by the keeper.
Stanhope had plenty of play in the second half but Middlestone Moor were the more dangerous and hit the bar twice.
The Middlestone Moor matchwinner in the 86th minute came from Ross Morrow who slotted the ball home from close range after Stanhope keeper Graeme Hodgson had saved well.
The trophy was presented by George Courtney.
