Middlestone Moor end Evenwood cup run

Middlestone Moor won through to the final of the Bob Strophair Durham Minor cup with a 3-2 victory at Evenwood Town today. In a dramatic semi final Middlestone Moor led 2-0, missed a penalty then had a man sent off. Evenwood fought back to 2-2 through a brace from Martin Hutchinson but the visitors scored the winner two minutes from time. Ross Morrow, an own goal and Danny Shoulder bagged the goals to set up a final against Hetton Jnrs who play in the second tier of the Wearside League. Middlestone Moor are former winners and have been runners up on four occasions.
Coundon Cons reached the final of the Weardale Charity Cup with a 3-1 victory over Willington WMC. Jordan Lee (2) and Jamie Redfearn scored for Coundon while Connor Winter reduced the arrears. Cons opponents in the final will be Evenwood Town, Stanhope SSC or holders Middlestone Moor.
