Stanley miss out

Stanley Town missed an opportunity to go third when they were held 4-4 at Crook Wanderers. Liam Ridley (2), Rhys Morgan and Kane Barron scored for Stanley while Wanderers responded through Danny Smith (2), Dave Mahan and an own goal. "Even game" was the verdict of Wanderers Steven Fairgrieve.
Wynyard The Stables pulled further away from the bottom three with an 11-1 victory over Howden Australian who replied through Alex Carruthers. "Poor from the Aussie today" reports John Chambers.
Willington WMC's defence of the Auckland Charity Cup remains on course following a 2-1 win at Heighington. Shane Dodson bagged the Heighington consolation. James Anderson reports "Well done to the Willington lads, good luck in the next round. - topset of lads again".
Middlestone Moor were runners up last season and maintained this years challenge with a 6-0 victory over Newton Aycliffe Royal Telegraph. Aaron Jackson bagged a hat trick with further goals courtesy of Josh Farlow (2) and Ross Morrow.
Stanhope SSC booked their place in the last four on penalties. Opponents Ferryhill Town took the lead but Stanhope levelled through Sam Green. Ferryhill went ahead 3-1 but two goals from Green completed his hat trick and made it 3-3. Stanhope won the shoot out 5-4.
The final semi final place is between Wolsingham and Evenwood Town who meet in a fortnight.
