Wolsingham go top

Wolsingham top division two with four wins from four following a 4-2 victory over Newton Aycliffe Royal Telegraph. Goals from Scott Hutchinson, Jake McKellar, James Pugh and Jonathan Winter earned the points for the dales side in the only league game. Ryan Peart and Mason Steed scored for Royal Telegraph.
Holders Shildon Railway exited the Norman Wright Memorial cup at Willington. A Bains hat trick set up an excellent win for the WMC and goals from Lee and Storey completed a 5-1 victory. Claydon pulled back a consolation from the spot.
Stanhope SSC overcame second division Crook Wanderers 2-0 in the Weardale Cup. After a goal less first half, "Stoic defensive work" according to Clem, Charlie Sanderson headed Stanhope ahead on the hour. Wanderers keeper Liam Snowdon was outstanding but he was beaten again ten minutes from time by sub Aydan Bowers.
There was another first v second division clash at Evenwood where the Town overcame Ferryhill 2-0. Liam Blighe and Gareth McMahon saw Evenwood into the hat for the next round. "It was a good battle" commented Evenwood's Chris Geddes.
Bishop Pavilion overcame Catchgate 4-0 in all all second division clash. Aiden Lowes and John Cunningham both bagged a brace for the victors. "It was a good game on a bad pitch and all credit to Catchgate " said Pavilion's John Fazackerley.
