Second division sides Royal Telegraph and Wolsingham both beat first division opponents to progress in the Norman Wright Trophy.
Mason Steed (2), Jake Cane and Zach Barrigan earned Newton Aycliffe Royal Telegraph a 4-1 victory over Glaxo Rangers. David Patterson scored the Glaxo consolation.
A second Barnard Castle team went out when Wolsingham won a penalty shoot out at the FC 3-2. The sides had been level 3-3 after 90 minutes with Rob Dixon (2) and Lewis Robinson on target for the home side. Wolsingham replied through Dagan Taylor, Sam McKellar and Scott Hutchinson.
Heighington made progress with a 7-2 victory over Wynyard The Stables. Martin Butterworth and Spencer McCabe both bagged a pair for the victors with further goals courtesy of Louis Whensley, Phil Park and Yannick Ayemou. Peter Harbron and James Dexter responded for The Stables.
Ferryhill ensured they would be in the hat for the next round with a 6-1 win at Stanley Town. Brad Wilkinson, Shane Todd and Jon Hardy all scored twice for Ferryhill. Liam Orr was on target for Stanley.
Middlestone Moor have been the most successful side in the competition in recent years and they won through to the last eight with a narrow 4-3 victory over Crook Wanderers. Ellis Codd, Ross Morrow, Mykel Summerson and an own goal saw Middlestone Moor through. Adam Blair (2) and Matthew Price replied for Wanderers. "Cracking game that" was Fergie's verdict.
Willington moved further ahead at the top of division one with a 4-0 victory over second side Stanhope. The WMC took the lead on 20 minutes and Stanhope had a goal disallowed shortly after. Willington deserved their win, though it was only in the last ten minutes that they turned their superiority into goals. Scorers Combi, Brunskill, Winter and Wills. Young full back Ethan Fairless was best for Stanhope.
