Minor Cup Day
Middlestone Moor beat Barnard Castle 6-4 in a clash of two Crook League teams. Willis White, Reece Barras, Michael Birch, Adam Watson, Scott Maughan and Joe Richardson were on target for the victors with Barney replies through Rob Dixon (3) and Lewis Robinson.
Willington WMC overcame Ferryhill Town 5-1 in another Crook league clash. Crotcher (2), Winter, Lee and Wilks scored for Willington while Brad Wilkinson reduced the deficit.
There was an excellent win for Stanley Town who beat Chester le Street Waldridge Park Reserves 4-2. Scorers Liam Orr, Liam Ridley, Jack Murphy and Callum Allaker.
Liam Armstrong and Chris Howe both bagged a brace for Evenwood Town in a 5-1 victory over Snods Edge St Johns Church. Connor Raine completed the scoresheet.
Stanhope progressed with a 4-2 victory at Bill Quay. Ian Peadon put Stanhope ahead on 17 mins and goals from Charlie Sanderson (24 mins) and Sam Green (40 mins) made it 3-0. Bill Quay pulled one back a minute into the second half but Peadon added a fourth for Stanhope. After hitting the post Bill Quay bagged a second goal near the end. Stanhope hired a bus for the occasion and we understand they are to pick up Crook Wanderers players at Gateshead Rutherford before embarking on a form of mystery trip. "We'll make sure they get home safely" said Clem.
It may well be that Crook Wanderers are a little late for the bus. Their game at Gateshead Rutherford Res ended 6-6 after ninety minutes. Wanderers won the resultant spotkicks 4-3. "Gerrruuuuuuupp" commented Fergie.
On a very good day for the league the only losers were Wynyard The Stables who lost a penalty shoot out with Wynyard Village 5-4. The sides had been level 1-1 at full time with Max Thompson the scorers for Stables.
