Weardale Cup Day

First Division leaders Willington WMC, Stanhope SSC and in form Newton Aycliffe Royal Telegraph made it through to the last eight of the Weardale cup.
Top score of the day came from Royal Telegraph who beat inconsistent Crook Wanderers 11-3. Josh Bane bagged a hat trick with other Telegraph goals courtesy of Ryan Peart (2), Jake Cane (2), Mikey Peacock, Michel Burns, Glenn Hendrix and Mason Steed. Wanderers responded through Adam Blair (2) and Ben Richardson.
Willington WMC's impressive run continued with a 4-1 victory over second division Wolsingham FC. Kenny Wilks, Matty Littlefair, Ellis Wymer and Jak Crocher scored for Willington while Connor Ward notched the Wolsingham consolation.
Sam Green (2), Royston Wilkinson and Ian Peadon saw Stanhope SSC 4-0 up at the half way stage at Wynyard The Stables. Green went on to complete his hat trick in the second half to secure a 5-0 win for Stanhope.
The match between Middlestone Moor and Barnard Castle was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch while the tie between Stanley Town and Heighington was called off due to Covid issues.
