Cup Holders Crash Out

Darlington Deacon fought back from a goal down to knock holders Middlestone Moor Masons Arms out of the Auckland Charity cup. Masons took the lead through Ethan Grayson on 10 minutes but Danny Longstaff levelled soon after. Goals from Josh Ward and Adi Weston saw Deacon lead 3-1 at the break. Second half goals from Longstaff, Dec Brown and John Shields completed an excellent 6-1 victory for the Deacon.
Shildon Railway top division one following a 3-1 victory at home to Barnard Castle Glaxo Rangers. Ian Maddison, Michael Condron and Danny Shoulder were on target for Railway while Luke Robson bagged the Barney consolation.
Bowes and Willington WMC were both in league action for the first time and it was the Teesdale side who came out on top 3-2. Adam Lee-Shield (2) and Rob Dixon were the Bowes scorers. Jonathan Baines bagged both for the losers.
Newton Aycliffe Royal Telegraph picked up their second league win in beating Crook Wanderers 6-0. Ryan Peart bagged a hat trick with further goals from Jack Mitchell (2) and Jake Cain.
Two of the newcomers met at Catchgate where the Community Centre drew 4-4 with Langley Moor The Station. Catchgate scorers were Aaran Halliday, Arron Hodgson, Lewis Coleman and Conor Profit while Liam Graham and Sol Tones both scored twice to earn Station a share of the spoils.
Heighington won through to the first round of the Durham Minor Cup with a 2-1 win at Hebburn Involve. David Parker and Anthony Moore were the marksmen.
Goalkeeper Mark Tyrie was the hero for Evenwood Town with four penalty saves in a row to win a shoot out against Gateshead Redheugh 2-1. The teams had been level 2-2 after ninety minutes. “Chris Howe and Colin Welsh missed for us” please put that in added Evenwood sec Chris Geddes.
Leon Hopps (2), Tyler Hutchinson and a Scott Hutchinson saw Wolsingham into the next round with a 4-3 win at Blaydon Community Centre.
To complete a good day for the league Bishop Pavilion beat Bill Quay 3-1 with goals courtesy of Kian Thompson, Chris Bowman and Myles Swift.
Unfortunately Ferryhill Town are out after losing 4-2 at home to Washington Reserves.
