Barnard Castle hold out to take the trophy
Newton Aycliffe Royal Telegraph spurned an excellent chance in the first minute and paid the price when Rob Dixon bagged an opener for Barnard Castle. After a good first half the dales side went 2-0 up through Will Hovington in the 40th minute.
Jack Oliver reduced the deficit in the 70th minute when his speculative effort from the touchline went in off the far post.
Rob West made it 3-1 to Barnard Castle with a goal against the run of play in the 75th minute. Royal Telegraph pressure was rewarded 5 minutes from time when Zac Barrigan's attempt dropped in behind the Barney keeper. Telegraph pushed in the latter stages but Barnard Castle held out for a win that overall they deserved.
